Mastering bias cut techniques, narrow seams and fine finishing

There’s something wonderful about turning a simple piece of fabric into a beautifully made garment—and that’s exactly what we focused on in a recent Camisole Sewing Workshop.

Held in Bibelot’s light-filled workroom, the day brought together a lovely group of dressmakers, each ready to learn new skills and create a beautiful camisole that fits.

We began by taking measurements and selecting the correct-sized pattern. We graded between sizes too, to ensure a perfect fit.

Throughout the workshop, each camisole began to take shape with fine hairline darts and seams, a stabilised neckline with tape, and shoestring straps carefully turned and stitched in place.

There’s something very grounding about sewing together—heads down, hands working, the occasional pause for tea and a chat. With a focus on precision sewing, everyone created a beautifully made garment.

By the end of the day, everyone left with a finished camisole and a deeper understanding of how simple techniques, when done well, can create something truly special.
