My Story

 

I am absolutely passionate about fashion and Couture and the processes involved in creating a beautiful garments, (I will talk about it for hours if you me!) 

I trained in Couture in London in the 1990s and for over twenty years I ran my own atelier, Sarah Willard Couture, crafting couture dresses that have been worn across the globe, from London, to America and Asia.  And I’ve won several shiny fashion awards along the way, with a trophy cabinet to prove it!!

But it wasn’t always like this!

I learnt to make my own clothes because I simply couldn’t find anything that fitted me.

And before I learnt the tricks of the trade I had plenty of failed dressmaking projects stuffed in plastic bags at the bottom of my wardrobe, I remember well the tears and frustrations of those days!! But now I know how special it feels to have created a wardrobe of handmade clothes and wear them with pride.

So I can’t wait to share the knowledge I have gathered along my way, so that you too can create beautiful clothes and accessories that you’re excited to wear and make you radiate confidence.

 

There are dressmaking workshops, sewing gatherings and couture training courses, with patterns and kits too.

When I’m not creating courses and dreaming up beautiful sewing kits you’ll find me in a favourite pair of muddy wellies walking my hooligan hounds, watching my daughter ride her much loved (and apparently also available in white!) pony and rustling up meals for family and friends. Oh and spinning around a dance studio too!
