I’ve nearly finished creating a guide to help you master the secrets of sewing bias, including the few simple steps that can transform your sewing and allow you to create the most beautiful garments 🖋

I learnt the hard way, sewing bias is a different cup of tea to sewing garments cut on the straight grain!

My first bias projects ended up as sewing disasters I tried to forget, stuffed in a plastic bag at the bottom of my cupboard! Wavy seams and stretched-out-of-shape necklines, uneven hems - I’ve made all the mistakes!

But now it’s a technique that I absolutely love and mindful sewing at its finest! 🧵🪡

The most elegant, red carpet-worthy dresses are cut on the bias with slinky fluted skirts that drape beautifully. A pretty bias-cut tea dress is so versatile that it takes you from the coffee shop to lunch with a friend to a romantic dinner for two.

And because cutting on the bias adds an element of stretch to woven fabrics, bias-cut garments allow you to move freely and are comfortable to wear - I plan to make a couple of camisoles, they are great for layering under a jacket or silk blouse.
