A visit to Burleigh Pottery
Burleigh transfers... printed onto tissue paper and then transferred by hand onto china. They’re so delicate and translucent that you can see the light through them, they remind me of ethereal silk chiffon, and the transfer patterns just beg to be embroidered! And then there’s the lace-like edgings and floral shapes...
They hang in sheets ready to be used at Middleport Pottery, which has to be one of my favourite places on the planet. I persuaded myself that I “needed” another cup and saucer for my morning cup of tea, and another jug or several!
So am I Inspired by Staffordshire’s cultural heritage?
