A Cornish Holiday
Sometime’s it’s good to embrace the art of slow living isn’t it? I’ve been enjoying some much needed rest and time away after a busy wedding season. Hope you’re well too?
We returned to an old haunt in Cornwall for a couple of weeks in October. Sometimes it’s best just to keep it simple, and drift to somewhere that’s cosy and familiar and that you know well. We were blessed with some autumn weather, with clear skies and warm temperatures by day.
Flushing was built by a community from Holland in the 17th century. There are the old captains houses, and it has the atmosphere of a dutch seaport, it’s like stepping back in time. Some times I wonder what I’d learn if only the houses could talk.
So here’s a few memories of our Cornish adventure, sunshine and sea, scones and ice cream!🍦 Long walks along the coastal paths, brunches at Cafe Mylor and delicious takeaway picnics on the beach below The Hidden Hut. Jewel coloured berries in the hedgerows, and paddling in the crystal clear water.
I'd been hoping to visit Stitches & Cream all holiday. So on our last day, despite the weather reports saying that a storm was on it's way in, I slung my tote bag over my shoulder, and with a skip in my step took the Flushing Ferry to Falmouth. 🛍
Oh my! I landed in knitting and dressmaking heaven. Note to self though, do not forget your reading glasses! The fabric quantities were a blur! 👓
So thank you at Stitches & Cream for reading the instructions for me and making sure that I bought the right amount of Atelier Brunette French terry for the Tilly And The Buttons pattern I'd chosen.
And then heavens opened, the sea swell came and the storm blew in. I just about made the last, very bumpy crossing home.
Slow and simple days are wonderful aren’t they. We’re rested, content and happy, and our happy hounds are too!
