Learn the trade secrets of how to sew with sheer fabrics and fine silks. Spend a day in the atelier creating a silk organza wraparound top, with three quarter length sleeves and a tie at the waist.

You have a choice of colours, either black, or navy, we’ll confirm your choice and size on booking. Imagine all those compliments, when you wearing your “made by me top” that looks like a designer garment!
You’ll learn skills that can be transferred to many other dressmaking projects such as:
How to set up a sewing machine for precision sewing.
French and mock-French seams, and where and when to use them.
How to stabilise and make a beautiful bound neckline at the same time.
A quick and easy way to set in sleeves.
How to sew beautiful narrow hems.
How to add a tie sash to a garment.
You’ll leave at the end of the workshop with a silk organza top that you can wear over a shift dress to the races, or with a camisole and trousers, illustrating how your new skills can be used to create beautiful couture garments, and a folder of notes and samples to remind you.
All materials and haberdashery are included.
Sewing tools and sewing machines are provided, but if you have a favourite pair of scissors etc bring them with you.
Skill Level:Intermediate and above - for dressmakers who have a good understanding of sewing techniques and are keen to refine their knowledge and ability and work with more challenging fabrics.

Venue: The workshop is held in my studio, which is in an attic on the first floor overlooking Sugnall Walled Garden, a light-filled space where you’ll be surrounded by fabrics, laces, trimmings and haberdashery.
Tea or coffee and delicious homemade cakes are included. Please bring your own packed lunch.
